Parking

Parking is available on River Street in front of our building. (Shown in yellow on map below) This was previously charged for but pending new ticket machines being installed, at the time of writing (September 2023) it is free to park here for 2 hours. No need to put money in the old ticket machines - we understand these will be replaced in the future with machines that you enter your numberplate to get a ticket for 2 hours free parking. For the moment you can park without a ticket up to 2 hours.

There are a limited number of free parking bays on Garden Street (shown in green on map below), which is literally just a few footsteps from our entrance as our building sits on the corner of Garden Street and River Street. Parking here is available for 1 hour.

Around the corner, there's a free multi-storey car park for TK Maxx (shown in purple on map below). Technically it's for their customers only, but it's understood the lower levels are not checked for length of stay or for using the store. Note that it does close in the evening at 6pm, so may not be suitable when parking for an event that runs at night at the store, but is ideal during the day.

Other Transport

Bus - Ayr Bus Station is only a short walk away (typically about 4-5 minutes walking time). For bus times, see Stagecoach.

Train - Ayr Train Station is within reasonable walking distance, around 10 minutes walk. For train times, see Trainline.

(note - Ayr Train station is currently closed following a nearby fire and a bus replacement service from Prestwick is in place, this is expected to continue until at least January 2024)

Driving Directions From A77 (Kilmarnock / Glasgow) :

• At Monkton Roundabout, take the first exit signposted Ayr and continue straight out at the next roundabout.
• At Whitletts Roundabout take the 3rd exit signposted Ayr and Racecourse.
• Continue straight on past Tesco and the Racecourse, and go straight on (2nd exit) at King St Roundabout.
• Before the traffic lights, turn left into Garden Street.
• Keep in the left lane and turn left if parking in TK Maxx.
• Keep in the right lane to either park on Garden Street free parking bays, or to continue to park on River Street. 
• Our building is on the right, on the corner of Garden Street to River Street, with the customer entrance facing the river.

Driving Directions from Prestwick

• Continue along Prestwick Main Street and Ayr Road.
• Continue straight past Heathfield crossroads.
• Continue straight across the mini roundabout (2nd exit) on to Alison street.
• At King St roundabout (Ayr Police station), take the third exit
• Before the traffic lights, turn left into Garden Street.
• Keep in the left lane and turn left if parking in TK Maxx.
• Keep in the right lane to either park on Garden Street free parking bays, or to continue to park on River Street. 
• Our building is on the right, on the corner of Garden Street to River Street, with the customer entrance facing the river.

Walking Directions from Ayr Bus Station (about 5 minute walk on average)

• Bus Station is located at the top of the Sandgate.
• Walk north on the Sandgate, keep on the right side pavement, you will pass Treehouse restauarant, co-op, Rabbies Drams, town hall and sandstone buildings either side of you. 
• Continue straight ahead over new bridge.
• As soon as you reach the end of the bridge, you'll see a walkway to the right, this leads to River Street.
• You should be looking right at us now - we're in the white building on the corner of River Street and Garden street, neighbouring Cats Protection and The Burns pub.

Walking Directions from Ayr Train Station (about 10-15 minute walk on average)

• Exit the station via the side where the ticket office is, head to the right towards the end of the taxi queue.
• Turn left into Kyle Street, where the new shopping centre is.
• Keep right at the fork and continue along the High Street.
• You will pass WH Smith, Boots, GAME, and Marks & Spencer. 
• At the end of the High Street (T junction, facing Willie Wastles bar), turn right onto New Bridge.
• As soon as you reach the end of the bridge, you'll see a walkway to the right, this leads to River Street.
• You should be looking right at us now - we're in the white building on the corner of River Street and Garden street, neighbouring Cats Protection and The Burns pub.
