This system is built already and only requires a few hours prep time for software configuration. There is no customisation option but it is available same day rather than 5 days wait on a custom system.

Voyager is the ideal first rung into PC gaming - it's great for games like Minecraft, Counter Strike Global Offensive and Fortnite, balancing a good selection of parts that are ideal for entry level gaming, but allowing great expandability in future.

Our objective here is to create the ideal starting point for reasonable outlay but without wasting money changing things later - the Ryzen processor with Integrated graphics has graphics performance equivalent to that of a £70-£80 dedicated graphics card, so ideal for lower demand games, but still has the flexibility to be upgraded later. That is, by using a case and power supply up to the job, it's really easy to make this improvement to the computer at a later date, without needing to replace the case or power supply too - a nice, easy upgrade path!

To give good performance to the processor graphics, we've included a 16GB Dual Channel 3600Mhz memory kit - this is a great basis for higher demand games in future too, and means that since the integrated graphics mentioned above shares some of this memory it avoids slow down on games that need 8GB or more available.

As a basis of storage we include a 512GB Solid State Drive (high speed NVMe type disk) which dramatically improves system start time and gives lightning-fast responsiveness when loading applications or games. Further, there's room in the case for extra storage (either additional Solid State or Hard Disk Drives) to be added to compliment the original SSD later. Why do we choose a small fast disk to start rather than a big slow disk? The performance difference it makes to general system use is huge, and crucially it's much easier to add additional storage (such as a hard disk) later, versus having to clone an existing large disk to a smaller fast disk should you want to speed things up in the future.

The system is enclosed in a GameMax Commando case which is a MicroATX size, and includes a rear 120mm fan with colour selectable lighting. It's ideal for future upgrades to mid-range hardware, and has a tempered glass left side for a great view to the inside of your PC. The case is available in black or white colour.

Case

The system is housed in the GameMax Commando – it’s not too expensive, but is smart looking with a tempered glass side panel, and the rear fan included that can be set to a single colour of your choice or cycle through various patterns. 

Dimensions are 21cm wide, 37.3cm deep, 40.3cm tall.

It gets a 3 x extra USB ports on top (in addition to the rear ports) and has room for 2 x hard disks and up to 3 x solid state disks, so it’s particularly good for potential storage expansion as well.

Power 

FSP 550W Bronze Rated ATX Power Supply is comfortable for this spec of system with room to spare. A 550W power supply is good enough for graphics cards costing up to around £400.

Bronze efficiency is achieved on this model - this means that the power supply runs cooler and uses a little less electricity compared to a cheaper 'White rated' power supply, and the certification for this means that tests have been performed to confirm it matches the specification needed to meet this efficiency score. In fewer words, there are cheaper power supplies available but this one is better quality than a low-end model and reduces the cost of electricty needed.

FSP is a solid brand, giving a 3 year warranty, and has enough connectors to support additional storage devices later. 

Motherboard

Gigabyte GA-A320M-S2H is a good value motherboard but still from a reliable brand with 3 year warranty. This is the part that all other components plug into and affects the future expandability of the system. In this instance there’s 2 memory slots, 4 x SATA Ports (the connectors used for disk drives / storage devices) and in this configuration the computer has a total of 9 x USB ports (3 on top, 6 on the back) for plugging in external items like keyboard, mouse, storage devices, phones etc.

Additionally, higher performance AMD Ryzen processors are supported, so if you wanted to upgrade to a faster processor later like 8 core Ryzen models (anything up to Ryzen 7 5800X, which scores nearly 30,000 CPU points), it’s possible to change to the higher performance processor models later without having to change motherboard too.

Memory

Memory or RAM affects how many things your computer can have open at once – typically 8GB is suitable for general computing use and 16GB needed for higher demand games, and having the memory at 16GB means the shared graphics on the processor has the ability to dip into this without slowing the system down.

So, included 16GB of ADATA DDR4 3600Mhz memory (made of 2 x 8GB modules) which at least means we’re keeping in line with demand. This uses 2 of the 4 slots on the motherboard, so there’s room to upgrade to 32GB if ever required in future.

Memory speed can be another factor in overall system performance – there’s only a small price increase from slower speeds like 2666Mhz to 3600Mhz memory, but the latter makes the computer noticeably quicker and is reflected in our scoring. Other computer providers may hide the memory speed, and this is usually an indication that they’re using the cheap / slow stuff to shave a few £ off somewhere, but this can be detrimental to the performance of the whole package.

Storage

Have included a fast drive for Windows operating system and programs (512GB Ortial NVMe, reads at 2044MB/s, about 4x the speed of a ‘normal’ SSD, and 10-15x faster than a hard disk) – this is drive C. It can be used for Windows, programs, and a few favourite games.

There’s typically room for 4 to 8 games on this size of disk, so maybe in future more storage will be needed but it’s easy enough to add 2^nd or even 3^rd storage devices into the computer for more games to be installed at once in future.

Networking

Motherboard has wired Ethernet port built in, Wifi is optional but a Wifi adapter can be fitted to a USB port if required i. Certainly, a wired Ethernet connection is the most reliable option so always best to use this when possible.

OS / Software 

Genuine Windows 11 Home 64 bit included.

The older version Windows 10 is still available if preferring to stick to that perhaps to use older software, this could be upgraded to Windows 11 later even, but I'm including the newest version so that the computer is up to date and has the longest support possible by using the latest Windows software.

System assembly includes setting the system up with all updates and your choice of applications, e.g. web browser, free office/security software if needed. Any media applications – Spotify, iTunes, etc.- can pre-install some games if you want to play right away. For example, we have the downloads for some games saved here (we don't have every game but do have a decent selection of popular titles held), so we can copy them on to the system so that they are ready to play when you sign in to your game accounts.

Systems include a software recovery image to bring them back to day one condition and include all original media for the Windows license and accessories from the system's parts. 

Warranty

This specification has a full 3 year warranty on the computer parts, detailed below.

While failures in the field are rare as we test the computer thoroughly before leaving, we will always aim to sort promptly and without fuss if there’s an issue later down the line. Some stores will offer an extended ‘labour only’ warranty but only cover parts for one year, but ours covers the parts for longer, this provided as standard without extra cost. We try to use items in our computers with good backup from manufacturers, and pass that on to you – so hence many of the components have three years cover as standard.
