Kustom PCs LAN Party events are here to put some random fun back into gaming. It’s not all about tournaments or cash prizes, but lots of big silly games that put a smile on your face. Making the ‘party’ in the name more relevant than most, if you will. Not just another event filled with endless FPS tournaments.
Events are held periodically in our shop premises, it’s a BYOC* format and starts at 10am and runs until 10.30pm. So no need to book lots of time off work, or ignore your family for a whole weekend - it’s an easy chance to get away for one fun-packed day of gaming !

Games Played
The Venue
Soldat Soldat looks a little like worms but is a real time variant - cutesy, fast 2d graphics and gameplay that's addictive and highly competitive. It's a free game and can be downloadedhere. Free for All and Capture the Flag played.
Altitude Altitude is to flight simulation as Soldat is to war based combat. Simple graphics but fast, gameplay with lots and lots of shooting. We'll play bomb the base and football scenarios. We'll be using the free demo version, available here.
Using what used to be our system build workshop, the LAN party events have a nice space to spread out into with support for up to 24 participants. Chairs, network cables and bench spaces are provided. Please bring your own PC, screen, peripherals and power cables though ! We have a few spare monitors available for loan for those who unable to transport their own.
While our venue may have a slightly vintage appearance, if we deck it out with enough lighting it starts to look quite cool. Come evening time, Armagetron is quite an experience - it borders on becoming a LAN disco, but it seems fitting and adds to the gameplay. Putting the party, back in LAN Party, if you like.
How to get the games?
We try to use as many freely available games as possible, but some are commercial so you will need a purchased license already. To the left, download links are shown for the free games. Please also make sure to join our Steam group ! It's neccesary to be able to invite players in the COD MW2 game (and also means we can tell you about future events)
Music Requests
Fitting background tunes is one of the points that gives Kustom LAN an exciting atmosphere - with something for all tastes though, but making sure to theme the music to each game. Rock, chiptune, electro, mashup, Drum n bass and a little spot of cheese are all bundled in, you can see the playlists from LAN 8 here and requests for the next event are rolling in there too. With some new games at LAN 9, expect some new music...
Schedule
List of games to the left is what we will be running in the day. Each game lasts from 30 minutes to an hour with 15 minutes between each game to allow everyone to get ready for the next. There's a 30 minute lunch break at 12:45 and 40 minute dinner break at 17:20.

What's the whole Tron obsession about?
It's great fun. Here's a couple of snippets of video from a 'practise' LAN we had a while ago. Just 10 people in this one - with twice as many (or more) it gets properly intense. Watch out for the screaming bike.
What shall I bring?
It's a BYOC* event. So remember your screen, base unit, power cables, keyboard, mouse, headphones and mouse mat. 2 power sockets and an Ethernet cable are provided at the event. Feel free to bring your own food / drink. Snacks are available in the shop downstairs and there's plenty of takeaways nearby for lunchtime and dinner.
*BYOC?
*BYOC stands for 'Bring Your Own Computer'. But has also become relevant to lunchtime - a variety of sandwiches are provided at the event, but not cheese because Graeme is scared of cheese. As a result, BYOC also is now an acronym for 'Bring Your Own Cheese Sandwiches'.
Plain Sight Ninja Robots do battle in this beautiful flying / killing game. We'll play a free for all deathmatch followed by 'Ninja! Ninja! Ninja! Robozilla!' which is a battle of everyone versus one massive player.Steam purchase, or see our group buy thread.
Trackmania Nations This is where the competition hots up. Time Attack mode puts everyone against the clock to get the fastest time over a short section of jumps and loops. LAN 9 will see 5 new custom tracks. Free download viaSteam.
Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2 The latest, most intense shooter in the Call of Duty series. This is where we knuckle down and try and be serious for a while. Well, after a round of 'knifes only' of course.Steam link.
Insects Infestation RTS game where players choose to control ants or termites, with solider and builder classes. Gather resources to upgrade your insects and aim to kill the opponents queen. Requires HL2. Download.
DIRT 2 A quick racing spree in a selection of Rallycross events - after the typical first corner carnage this results in some pretty good racing. Make sure to set up an account before hand. Buy from Amazon for £9.94.
SourceForts Each team is given 15 minutes to reinforce their base with blocks, followed by an attack session where the objective is to break through each opponents base and steal their flag. Requires HL2. Download.
The Hidden Source The result of a failed biological experiment, 'The Hidden' is trying to avoid capture and moves around levels armed with a knife and in a visible form that causes only a slight shimmer. Players on the squad must find and capture 'The Hidden'. Requires HL2.Download
Armagetron The Kustom LAN Favourite. WIth LAN 9 we unveil two new game types - Capture the Flag, and Bullets. Plus we'll run a traditional 'long tail' deathmatch and a 'short tail' game of Fortress (base defence). 'Tron at Kustom LAN is quite an experience. Download.
Zero Gear Modern interpretation of Mario Kart for 8 player games. With fun car customisation, lots of power ups and action packed racing. Includes fairground antics and ice hockey games too. Available on Steam, expensive as a single license but a bargain as a 4 pack. We have 4 systems set up with this game at the start of the event.
CS Hide and Seek This mod makes counter terrorists blind for 30 seconds, while giving the terrorists time to find a hiding place. Further, terrorists can disguise themselves as an object from the map. This gets silly. Very silly. Chasing a lamppost that's jumping down the street really does mean you've seen everything. Needs Counterstrike installed to play.
Flatout 2 Destruction Derby only this time for maximum laughs. Includes our famous 'Chilli Con Carnage' scenario, which usually involves a group of 'chilli' cars attacking a truck. Available to buy onSteam, it's nice and cheap.
Side Attraction : Fall Down The objective is to... fall, down. Threatening blades at the top of the screen will kill your character if you don't keep dropping through gaps that appear in the scrolling platforms. Played with 8 players at once on the projector screen.
